Obituary for Avis Arlene "Lady" Conrad

Avis Arlene Conrad or Lady as she was known by most, 80, of 2059 Oil Creek Road, Orlando, WV, went home to be reunited with her parents Cleve Conrad and Isa (Allen) Conrad, son Bobby Conrad and wife Becky (Williams) Conrad and grandson Josh Conrad on January 18, 2019 at her residence with her family at her side. She was born on December 28, 1938 in Napier, WV.
In addition to Lady’s parents, son, daughter-in-law, and grandson she was preceded in death by sisters Wanda Sue Conrad, Bessie Brown, Helen Stout, Hazel Marie Conrad, Lovie Irene Conrad and brother Ralph Conrad, and brother-in-laws Charles Riffle and Gene Stout.
Lady is survived by companion of 65 years Harry Brown, brother Jarvis Conrad and wife Mary of Ivydale, WV, and sister Rose Riffle of Orlando. Also surviving are brother-in-law Don Brown, sister-in-law Daisy Conrad, nephews Rick Conrad who was like a son to lady and wife Sandy of Duck, WV, Greg Conrad, Dwayne Stout, Scottie Stout, Jason Heater, Ralph Dale Conrad, Mike Brown, and Donnie Brown, and nieces Linda Barrows, Susie Tyler, Debbie Tildon, Doris Tabor.
Lady was a long time cook for the Braxton County Senior Center, Also cook at Mable’s Restaurant in Sutton, also Worked at the 79 Motel in Burnsville. Lady enjoyed cooking and was known for her pineapple cookies. Her nephews enjoyed her creamed peas, chicken, dumplings, and just spending time with her. Lady also like flowers, gardening, and she especially enjoyed tending to her Red and white Roses. Lady also was an accomplished seamstress, enjoyed making quilts, and listen to blue grass music. Family was everything to her and her son and grandson were her everything she did was for them. Lady also was a care giver to her parents as they aged.

Family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 from 12-2 p.m. at the Stockert-Paletti Funeral Home, 378 Flatwoods Corner Road, Flatwoods, WV 26621. Funeral Services will follow visitation at 2:00 p.m. and will be held in the funeral home Chapel with Pastor Delmas Singleton officiating. Interment will follow her funeral service in the Little Kanawha Memorial Gardens in Heaters, WV. Expressions of sympathy may be extended to the family at stockert-paletti.com
