Obituary for Garl Lewis Stalnaker

Garl Lewis  Stalnaker
Garl Lewis Stalnaker, 86, of Corley, WV passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 30, 2017 at the Glenville Health Care Center in Glenville.
He was the eldest son of the late Sam and Bessie (Blake) Stalnaker. Two brothers, John and Gail Stalnaker and one sister, Marie Stitt Stalnaker all preceded him in death. He is survived by his ex-wife, Connie James Elefant and son, Gregory Stalnaker, both of Big Canoe, GA and a special young friend, Eddie Wine of Flatwoods.
Garl attended Sutton High School where he graduated in 1949. He proudly severed in the United States Army from 1952-1954. Upon his return home he went to Cleveland, OH where he worked different jobs before settling into LTV Steel Mill for most of his working career.
Garl enjoyed coaching Little League Baseball teams in Cleveland as well as when he returned to Braxton County in 1994. He was an avid WVU football and basketball fan and he also liked to attend Braxton County High School ballgames to see boys play that he had coached.
Garl was a member of Corley United Methodist Church where he enjoyed attending church services, revivals and fellowship diners. He was a good neighbor and friend to all and he believed in helping others whenever he could.
Stockert-Paletti Funeral Home of Flatwoods is handling the arrangements for Garl Stalnaker.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, July 8, 2017 from 11-1 pm with the funeral services following at 1:00 pm, both at the Stockert-Paletti Funeral Home, 378 Flatwoods Corner Drive Flatwoods, WV, with Reverend Wilma Jackson and Reverend Bryon Bukovesky officiating. Interment will follow in the Little Kanawha Memorial Gardens, Heaters, WV. Condolences and memories can be shared at stockert-paletti.com
