Freda Mae (Hacker) Helmick, 82 of Exchange, WV passed away after an illness on Monday, March 27, 2017 at the Crestview Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Jane Lew, WV. Freda was born in Braxton County, WV on February 21, 1935 a daughter of the late Salathiel Newton Hacker and Laura (Flint) Hacker. On August 23, 1950 she married the late Carl Junior Helmick who passed away on June 4, 2008.
Also preceded in death by brothers Gerald, Author, and Gilbert Hacker, sisters Goldie Bender, Ethel Hacker, and Elva Lesson.
Freda is survived by her children Charles Helmick of Camden, WV, Pete Helmick and wife Kathy of Sang Run, Matthew Helmick and wife Mackenzie of Exchange, Wavalene Fincham and husband Franklin of Heaters. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, and 3 great-great-great-grandchildren.
Freda was a retired postal worker with 41 years of dedicated service. She was devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and a great-great-great grandmother. She was a hard worker and she enjoyed gardening and working with her flowers in her spare time.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, March 30, 2017 from 5-8 p.m. at the Stockert-Paletti Funeral Home, 378 Flatwoods Corner Road, Flatwoods, WV 26621. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 31, 2017 at 4 p.m. at the Stockert-Paletti Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Bob Mylott officiating. Interment will follow in the Helmick Family Cemetery.
