Obituary for Edward "Ed" Dwayne Cutlip

Edward "Ed" Dwayne  Cutlip
Edward “Ed” Dwayne Cutlip, 70, of Sutton WV, departed this life on Sunday, July 31, 2016 at his home. He was born on July 4, 1946, to the late William Minter Cutlip and Bessie Evans Cutlip. In Nicholas County, WV.

He is survived by his wife, Amanda (Brown) Cutlip; son, James Cutlip, Exchange, WV; daughter, Ciera Gillespie, Buckhannon, WV; sisters, Glendaleen Lynch, Craigsville, WV and Beatrice Hamrick, Sutton, WV; brother, James A. Cutlip (Elaine), Scottown, OH. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Dylan Cutlip, Malori Cutlip, Gabriel Cutlip and Marissa Warner. He was preceded in death by four sisters and four brothers.

He was a Baptist by faith and attended the First Southern Baptist Church, in Sutton, WV. He was the Chief of Police in Flatwoods for many years.

Mr. Cutlip served his Country for twenty years in the United States Army. He was a retired Staff Sergeant, E-6 and was the recipient of many awards. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 33, Disabled American Veterans, and Military Order of Purple Heart.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, taking care of his roses, watching westerns and listening to classical music.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at the Stockert-Paletti Funeral Home, 378 Flatwoods Corner Road in Flatwoods, WV 26621 from 5:00-8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 5, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Stockert-Paletti Funeral Home Chapel with the Pastor Paul Beatty officiating. Interment will follow in the Braxton County Cemetery, with full Military Honors conducted by the American Legion Post 33.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Edward’s name to Braxton County Animal Shelter or West Virginia Hospice, Buckhannon, WV.
