Obituary for Martha Ellen Godfrey (Huffman)
Martha Ellen (Huffman) Godfrey, 91, of Burnsville, WV was called home to be with the Lord, on Friday, April 9, 2021 at her residence with her family at her side. Martha was born on May 5, 1929 at Hyers Run the daughter of the late Ernest Carl Huffman and Ida Ellen (Riffle) Huffman. Also preceding her in death was her husband William Frances Godfrey who she shared 53 years of marriage with. In addition to her husband she was also preceded in death by daughter Hilda Sue Godfrey. Also preceding her in death siblings Ralph Huffman, Russell Huffman, Rena Godfrey, Carl Huffman, Junior Huffman, Mary Keller, Roy Huffman, and James Huffman.
Martha is survived by brothers Raymond Huffman and wife (Rosalee) of Burnsville, WV, Chester Huffman and wife Betty of Heaters, WV, and sister Bonnie Riffle and husband Larry of Copen. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Martha was a member of the Little Kanawha Independent Church. Her and her husband owned and operated Godfrey’s grocery store 46 years. She enjoyed gardening and was well known for her blackberries, and she also enjoyed quilting and crocheting.
Family will receive friends on Monday, April 12, 2021 from 12-2 p.m. at the Stockert-Paletti Funeral Home, 378 Flatwoods Corner Road, Flatwoods, WV 26621. Funeral services will follow visitation at 2:00 p.m. at the Stockert-Paletti Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Ronzel Roberts officiating. Interment will follow services in the Ball Cemetery.
