Obituary for Ann Lovern Hickman (Cooper)

Ann Lovern Hickman, 71, of Town Hill, Sutton, WV was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 4, 2021, at Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital in Weston, WV. She was born on March 21, 1949 in Charleston, WV, to the late Newton Cooper and Lovern (Taylor) Cooper. Ann married Rodney Isaac Hickman on July 20, 1968. They were happily married for 52 years.

Ann graduated from Sutton High School in 1968. She lived in Sutton, West Virginia her entire life, where she was a devout Christian and a loving wife, mother, and granny. She enjoyed sewing, collecting antiques, gardening, and singing. She was a member of Sutton Baptist Church and Elmira Baptist Church. Over the years she owned The Quilt Supply Shop, Oak Leaf Antiques, Little House Antiques, and rental properties. She also taught many quilting classes across the state.

She is survived by her husband Rodney Isaac Hickman; daughters Kimberly Ann (Garry Edwin) Heck, Amy Leigh Vance, and Catherine Ann (Jason Wayne) Posey; brother Robert Newton (Mary Dan) Cooper; and grandchildren Hannah Mae Linder, Wyatt James Linder, Millie Ann Linder, Brock Isaac Heck, Elizabeth Grace Heck, Caleb Michael Posey, and Joseph Matthew Posey. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends will be received for calling hours by the family on Friday, January 8, 2021 at the Stockert-Paletti Funeral Home, 378 Flatwoods Corner Road, Flatwoods, WV 26621 from 12 Noon until 2:00 p.m. Funeral Services will follow calling hours in the Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00p.m. with Pastor Jeremy Raby Officiating. A graveside service will be held immediately following Funeral Services in the High Knob Cemetery.
