Obituary for Samuel Clay Cogar

Samuel C. Cogar, 80, of Burnsville, WV was called home to be with Lord on November 19, 2020 at Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital. Samuel was born in Gassaway, WV on August 16, 1940 to the late Cecil C. and Clara Rose Cogar.
In addition to his parents, Samuel is preceded in death by siblings Joann Cogar Coffman, Naomi Garee, George R. Cogar, Thomas R. Cogar, Jack F. Cogar and Tom Cogar.
Samuel leaves behind a very large and loving family. He is survived by wife: Violet Arbogast Cogar; daughter: Samantha A Cogar Farrelll of Maryland; step- children: Willard Lake and Craig Lake of Burnsville, Christy and husband Jeff Merray of Colorado, Crystal and husband Richard Godfrey and Cheryl and husband Mike Snyder of Florida and Carolyn and husband David Cosner of Frametown; special friends Darlene and Kemp Baratier of NY; and many nieces, nephews, and step-grandchildren.
Samuel graduated from Gassaway High School in 1958 and Glenville State College in 1963. He worked as a computer programmer in New York for Univac, Cogar, and Singer. He also worked as a Computer Programmer Consultant at Lainer in Atlanta, GA. Samuel enjoyed his job and liked to be working. When he wasn’t at work, he enjoyed antiques, auctions, and without surprise, computers.
