Obituary for Waveleen Duffield (Jarvis)
Waveleen Duffield, 92, of Gassaway, WV, went home to be with the Lord on November 10, 2019. Waveleen was born on November 20, 1926 in Tague, WV to Arch and Susie Jarvis. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter Joyce Howard.
Waveleen is survived by her son Clayton Short and wife Patricia of Byesville, OH; daughter Nancy Johnston and husband Curtis of Fairmont, WV; grandchildren: Matthew Short (Kristi), Alisha Short (Charles), Monica Grande, Wesley Howard (Ashley), and Nicole Herndon; great-grandchildren: Victoria Short, Susanna Short, Sydney Grande, Stella Howard and Amelia Howard; and one very beloved canine companion Meme.
Waveleen took great pride in growing a garden and canning her crop. She made the best home-cooked meals. In her spare time she filled her bird feeders and watched her birds. She especially favored the humming birds. Waveleen attended Gassaway Baptist Church before she moved to River Oaks. Waveleen thought of Meme, her beloved companion, as one of her children. Nicole, her granddaughter has been and will continue to provide Meme’s care.
