Obituary for Shirley Jean Nicholson (Stout)
Shirley Jean (Stout) Nicholson went home to be with the Lord on October 6, 2019. Shirley was born on September 24, 1935 in Burnsville, WV and raised by her grandmother Rosa Lou Stout. On May 22, 1953 Shirley married Arley D. Nicholson Jr. She is preceded in death by her mother, Madlyn Marshal; grandmother, Rosa Lou Stout; sister, Willa Rosa Weise; son in law, Robert L. Almy; and in laws Arley D. Nicholson Sr. and Mae Nicholson.
Shirley is survived by her sister, Elizabeth Ann Wilson; brother, Harry Paul Marshal; and daughter Irena Jean Almy.
Shirley was president and secretary of the C.E.O.S. Club of Burnsville for 19 years. Shirley took great pride in the club and enjoyed the time she spent with them. She spent much of her free-time crafting and arranging flowers. She enjoyed county music, namely, George Jones Gospel. Her cat Buttercup and dog Ginger were devoted companions.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Stocket-Paletti Funeral Home, 378 Flatwoods Corner Road, Flatwoods, WV 26221. Funeral Services will follow visitation at 1:00 p.m. at the Stockert-Paletti Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Rick Price officiating. Interment will follow in the Burnsville I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
