Obituary for Pat Blake

On September 21, 2019, Pat Blake, beloved by so many, unexpectedly passed. Born, Patricia Louise Morris to Creda and Oren “Red” Morris on August 25, 1945, Pat is best known for her love of children, cats, reading, music, dancing, and bird watching. Her entire life was lived as a tribute to these loves.

Pat was a truly kind human being. In addition to her warm, loving spirit, Pat was known for her quick wit, generosity, and ability to find four leaf clovers. For many years, Pat was an elementary school teacher and took special joy in teaching children to read. After retirement, she continued to work with children as a substitute teacher, guest reader, and tutor. Her patient, gentle ways brought out the best in not just children, but in all of us.

Pat is preceded in death by her parents, Creda & Red, her siblings, William (Bill), Helen Jean, and David (Dave), and nephews, Claud Mick Jr. (Micky), Joseph Mick (Joe), and great nephew, Andrew Mick. She is survived by nephew, Steve Smith, who was raised as a brother, and wife Lauren, nephew Fred Mick, and niece Rebecca Mick (Becky). Her great nieces and nephews, Amy Kittle husband Dennis Bryan, Erin Watts and husband Warren, Nathaniel Lynch and wife Staci, Courtney Moore and husband Evan, Chip Mick and wife Andrea, Lexi Mick, Jamie Mick and wife Barb, Jean Szura and husband Joe, Casey Mick and wife Rochelle, Kelly Mick, Sean, and Owen Mick loved their Auntius Pattius dearly as she did them. Great-great nieces and nephews, Orrin, Elijah, and Ian Jones; Alex, Austin, and Adam Kittle; Warren Watts III, Haylie and Liam Lynch; Logan and Kinley Moore; Jake, Gavin, and Brady Mick; Natalie and Aryana Bowden; Claude and Jules Mick; Nicholas and Noah Szura; and Emma Mick will sorely miss Aunt Pat’s story times, hand written notes, games, and “kisses.”

In addition to traditional family, Pat is also survived by dear friend, Marty Wine, her children Misty and Stacy, and Holly Wroe.
