Obituary for Luella Rose (Herndon) Weaver

Luella Rose (Herndon) Weaver of Winchester, VA walked into Heaven with her gardening tools ready to cultivate and beautify on Sunday, July 28, 2019.
Born on 15 March 1949 in Corley, a daughter of the late Chester and Mildred (Rose) Herndon, she left for DC to work for the federal government immediately after high school graduation. She finished her thirty-year career there as a management analyst in the Undersecretary’s office of the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Lou retired in 1996 to Grandy NC near the beach she loved. There she and her husband Dave became Master Gardeners as well as superior home improvement gurus. They returned to West Virginia with their toolkit in 2002 and eventually settled in Winchester. Her home and lawn – and workshop – were magazine cover worthy.
She is survived by her beloved husband, David Weaver of Winchester, her sister Paula Harper of Manassas, VA, her brothers Gene (Sharon) of Martinsburg, WV & Gary Herndon of Corley and brother-in-law Jimmy (Carmen) Weaver of Amelia, VA. Many cherished nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews also mourn her passing. She was predeceased by her sister-in-law Arlene (Reid) Herndon.
Family will receive friends from 5-8 pm, Friday, August 2, 2019 at the Stockert-Paletti Funeral Home, 378 Flatwoods Corner Road, Flatwoods, WV 26621. A service celebrating her life will be held at 11 am on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at the Stockert-Paletti Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in Tichenel Cemetery on Salt Lick. Words of comfort and fond memories can be shared with the family at stockert-paletti.com.
The Stockert-Paletti Funeral Home of Flatwoods, WV will be caring for the Weaver family.
