Obituary for William Dennison

In Loving Memory of William Rondal Dennison
William (Bill) Rondal Dennison, 85, entered into the joy of our Lord on Friday evening, July 19, 2019, at his home in Spotsylvania, VA. Much of his family was gathered around his bed, singing hymns and expressing their love. We are grateful he was able to spend his last days comfortably at home with his family by his side.
William was the eighth child of twelve children born to Tilford B. Dennison and Lucy Florence Perrine Dennison on February 12, 1934 in Riffle, West Virginia. He married the “Joy of his life,” Loretta Joyce Porter, on July 4, 1956, whom he had known most of his life. During their 63 years of marriage, they raised three girls and traveled extensively during William’s 20-year career in the Air Force. He retired as a Master Sergeant and a veteran of the Vietnam War in Alaska and began a second career with the Trans-Alaska Pipeline on the North Slope, where his hard work and exemplary character continued to earn him commendations and recognition.
He loved hunting and fishing, riding his four-wheeler, gardening, and mowing his lawn as he lived out his retirement on his beloved farm in Guysville, Ohio, before moving to Spotsylvania, VA.
We, his family, will miss him for the loving man he was; his infectious laugh and playful spirit, his adventure stories of his days in Alaska and growing up in West Virginia will be memories we will laugh at and remember fondly. His fierce love for his family and the Lord formed the firm foundation of his life and his gentle influence over all of us. He was a faithful man of integrity; a man whose “word was his bond” as he taught us by example to work hard and be diligent. His generous and loving nature blessed all those who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Diane Dennison (Rick) Mora, his parents, and siblings Marlin Burnell Dennison, Byron Dale Dennison, Milton Gale Dennison, Mildred Idell Dennison Malin, James Eugene Dennison, Amanda Wanda Dennison Coen, Fonda Faye Dennison Euren, Tilford Gareth Dennison, and Shirley Raye Dennison Maloney.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Loretta Joyce Porter Dennison (81), and his daughters Patricia Lynn (Jim) Goins of Spotsylvania, VA, and Lisa Lorraine (Paul) Repke of Hueytown, AL, along with grandchildren Melissa Ann Goins of Louisville, KY; David James (Marisa) Goins, San Diego, CA; Lindsay Diane Mora, Fredericksburg, VA; Katelyn Lorraine Repke, Birmingham, AL; Benjamin John (Diana) Repke, Ramer, AL; Steven Paul (Tiffany) Repke, Tuscaloosa, AL; Mark William Repke, Hueytown, AL; Sarah Ruth Repke, Birmingham, AL; and great grandchildren Jackson David Goins, San Diego, CA; and Eleanor Rose Repke, Tuscaloosa, AL.
