Mary Elizabeth Shaver Hobbs, 81, of Exchange, WV went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 9, 2019, in Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV following a brief illness. Mary was born on February 23, 1938 a daughter of the late Therman “Scott” Shaver and Lena Dennison Shaver. She was married to the late Carlton Hobbs who passed away on October 10, 1989 and the late Elvie H. Porter who passed away on Aril 20, 2007.
In addition to her spouses Mary was preceded in death by granddaughter Marian Squires, siblings Forrest Therman Shaver, Dayphene Pearl Shaver, Imogene Mae Shaver, Fountain Leroy Shaver, Larry Scott Shaver, Sharron Lynn Shaver, Clifford Paul Shaver, and Janet Varie Shaver.
Mary is survived by her children Brenda M. Holmes and husband Brent of Exchange, WV, Mary J. Hobbs of Exchange, WV and Susie Squires and husband Raymond of Stone Run, WV. Also surviving are grandchildren John Carlton Squires of Stone Run, WV and Amanda Marie Biesczad and husband Jamey of Bridgeport, WV. Also surviving are siblings Vinten Shaver, Ina June Knight, and Patricia Moore, and several nieces and nephews.
Mary was a good Christian woman and a long time member of Shaver Fork Community Church. Mary loved reading every morning, going for walks, travel, flowers, gardens, cooking, and crocheting. The great joy of all for Mary was feeding her family and visitors.
Family will receive friends on Friday, July 12, 2019 from 5-8 p.m. at the Stockert-Paletti Funeral Home, 378 Flatwoods Corner Road, Flatwoods, WV 26621. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at the Stockert-Paletti Funeral Chapel with Pastor Lester “Buddy” Lemon.
