Virginia Margaret Long, 83, of Windy Run Road, Little Birch, WV passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at her home. She was born April 7, 1936 at Gauley Bridge, WV to the late Lee Mullins and Stella (Steel) Cole. Also preceding her in death was a daughter, Debbie Hamrick; brothers, David Marsh, Eddie Marsh and Roy Marsh and a sister, Louella Shaw.
She is survived by her husband, James Robert Long; son, James Rodney Long (Sharon), Inwood, WV; sisters, Shirley Ann Long (Bill), Flatwoods, WV, Clara Lea Parsons, Gassaway, WV, Margie Parsons, Magnolia, OH; brothers, Cam Marsh, Sutton, WV and James Marsh, Gassaway, WV. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Leslie Loggins (Adam), Sutton, WV, Kimberly Boutwell (Gary), Orlando, FL and Cassie Long, Inwood; two great grandchildren, Cataleya Loggins and Elyka Loggins.
She enjoyed reading books, writing poetry and singing gospel hymns. She loved spending time in her garden and working with her flowers. She especially was fond of daisies, roses, morning glories and snowballs. She enjoyed cooking and her specialty was fried chicken and chicken and dumplings. Above all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
There will be a graveside service held on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. at the Long Cemetery with Pastor Linn Schiefer officiating. Interment will follow in the Long Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the Long Run Baptist Church, 7127 Herold Road, Sutton, WV 26601. Condolences can be expressed to the family at stockert-paletti.com.
