He was born in Pontiac, MI on June 24, 1950 to the late Charles Porter and Florence (Doyle) Porter. Preceding him in death was a son, David Allen Porter, Jr.

He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Brenda Darlene Porter; sons, Larry Allen Porter and wife Amber of Clarksburg, WV and David Carl Wine of Glenville, WV; daughters, Dawn Ann Shubert of Clarkston, MI, Colette Marie Graham and husband Daniel of Grayling, MI, Bobbie Louise Adams and husband Kelly of Colorado Springs, CO, Briana Danielle Helmick and husband Ross of Jane Lew, WV; brother, Charles (Jack) Porter and wife Carol of Lapeer, MI; sister, Nancy Porter Hornacek and husband Ken of Columbiaville, MI. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren with a 16th grandchild on the way, and many nieces and nephews.

Dave enjoyed traveling to Myrtle Beach on his Harley Davidson - especially for bike week with his wife, Brenda Porter. He enjoyed being surrounded by water, taking in the scenic lake views from his boat, and camping with those he loved. His families fondest memories involve camping trips with Dave. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather; and was happiest when surrounded by his family. He will be remembered for many things, his generosity being at the forefront, as he was an avid participant in motorcycle toy drives and other charitable events. His family also fondly recalls that “if it had a throttle and a way to steer, he could drive it.” In addition to his devotion to his family and community, he dedicated 38 years of service to Weyerhaeuser as a mill right in both Michigan and West Virginia, and will be remembered for his excellent service to the company.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at the Stockert-Paletti Funeral Home, 378 Flatwoods Corner Road, Flatwoods, WV 26621 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Stockert-Paletti Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Doug Smailes officiating. Per Mr. Porter’s wishes, he will then be cremated. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Toys for Tots, Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, Gift Processing Administrator, 18250 Quantico Gateway Drive, Triangle, VA 22172.
