On Sunday, May 12, 2019, at 10:54 a.m., at Braxton Memorial Hospital in Gassaway, WV, Jake B. Loyd, 84, of Exchange Road, Sutton, WV succumbed to death after a long battle with health issues. He was born May 9, 1935 to the late B. Frank and Ruth Loyd.
Jake was a Sutton High School graduate of the class of 1953, attended Glenville State College, was in the U. S. Army during peace times, and was a retired Rural Letter Carrier. Jake was a member of the Lloydsville United Methodist Church.
Jake is also preceded in death by sister Martha Ellen Loyd, an infant sister Mary Sue, Sister-in-law Rose Leo Hoard and brothers-in-law Tom Kelsey and H. Dale Hoard.
Surviving wife of 50 years Ethel M. Cutlip Loyd, son Samuel J. Loyd of Sutton, daughter Christy Sue (Roger) Collins of Corley, grandchildren Ellen and Alex Collins of Corley, brother John (Betty) Loyd of Philippi; sisters Jean (Bill) Johnson of Pittsburgh, PA; Rachel Kelsey of Collierville, TN; and Nellie (David) Griffin of South Charleston. 13 Nieces and Nephews, numerous great nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at the Stockert-Paletti Funeral Home, 378 Flatwoods Corner Road, Flatwoods, WV 26621, from 6-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. from the Stockert-Paletti Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ron Accord officiating.
