Obituary for Oval Justice Sears

Oval “O.J.” Justice Sears, 91, of 139 Elk Street Gassaway, WV, slipped away peacefully at his home with his loved ones by his side on Sunday, October 21, 2018. O.J. was born in Braxton, WV on August 11, 1927 son of the late Clarence Justice Sears and Vergie Gay (Hamrick) Sears. On May 24, 1952 O.J. was united in marriage for 66 years to Wilda “Singleton” Sears.
In addition to his loving wife of 66 years Wilda, O.J. is survived by daughters Sheri Sears Pikras & (John) of Pittsburgh, PA and Linda Sears & (Ashley Napier) Gassaway, WV. Also surviving is grand-son Max J. Pikras of Pittsburgh, PA, brothers Gene Sears & (June) of Nashville, TN, Jennings Sears & (Kathy) of Exchange, WV. In addition to his spouse, children, grandson, and brothers, O.J. is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to O.J. parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Lowell and Doyle Sears and sister Judy Sears.
O.J. Sears was a member of the Gassaway Masonic Lodge #133, Beni Kedem Shriners Temple in Charleston, WV, and Scottish Rite Lodge Charleston, WV. O.J. graduated High School from Gassaway High School with the class of 1945. Following High School Mr. Sears immediately enlisted in the United States Navy. After the Navy Mr. Sears began work for the B.O Railroad which eventually became CSX Railroad and he retired as an engineer with 40 years of service. In his leisure time O.J. enjoyed hunting during squirrel season and he really enjoyed deer hunting and going to camp during deer season.

Mr. Oval “O.J.” Justice Sears final wish was to be cremated and interment at Little Kanawha Memorial Gardens in Heaters, WV. Graveside services will be held at Little Kanawha Memorial Gardens at a later date. Expressions of sympathy may be expressed to the family at stockert-paletti.com
