Dwight “Sonny” Monroe McCourt, 71, of Heaters, WV passed away Monday, January 8, 2018, at the United Hospital Center, Bridgeport, WV. He was born at Centralia, WV on August 16, 1945 to the late Oren McCourt and Agatha (Clutter) Corbett.
He is survived by his daughters, Nichole Lynn (Chris) McCourt Fisher of Morgantown, WV and Cassandra McCourt of Navarre, OH; brothers Elliot (Rosemary) McCourt of Lockport, WY, Tommy “Tom” (Lydia) McCourt, Centralia, WV; sister, Karen (Robert) Holcomb, Gassaway, WV, Special Family, Stacey (Roy) Bush and Devin Bush and two grandchildren, Damian May and Brogan Fisher.
Mr. McCourt was a carpenter by trade and served his Country in the United States Army where he received the Purple Heart medal. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed the peace and quiet when fishing all day long or hunting in the woods he loved and called home. He adored and loved his mom and her cooking, especially her biscuits. He was an avid collector of antiques and guns.
In honoring his wishes, Mr. McCourt will be cremated. A Memorial Service may be held at a later date. Words of Comfort and fond memories can be expressed to the family at stockert-palett.com.
