Obituary for David "Mike" Michael Ramsey

David "Mike" Michael Ramsey
David Michael “Mike” Ramsey, 75, of Burnsville went home to be with the Lord on September 7, 2017 at home surrounded by his family after battling cancer for 13 years.
He was born in Clay County, a son of Delbert “Deb” Ramsey and Mamie Bragg Ramsey. As a boy in Clay County Mike loved to be playing baseball or hunting. He spoke of many cousins there that he played with and dearly loved. His family moved to Braxton County in 1961 and he graduated from Burnsville High School with the class of 1962.
Fifty-three years ago he married his high school sweetheart, Dottie Riffle who survives at their home.
He was a veteran of the United States Army from 1966-1968. He served a year in combat in Viet Nam.
Mike and Dottie have three sons: Timothy and Shannon Ramsey, their children: Michelle, Beth and Michael; Jason and Jessica Ramsey, their children: Olivia and Elijah; Patrick and Katherine Ramsey. All are of Burnsville.
Mike’s grandchildren were his pride and joy. He loved to hear them sing Southern Gospel. Every time they would visit from the time they were small, he’d say, “You kids gonna sing me one before you leave?” He told them stories with his twist added.
In addition to his wife, sons, and grandchildren, he is survived by one sister, Beverly Davis of Philippi, WV, a brother Ronnie Ramsey and Carol of Burbank, Ohio; 2 sisters-in-law: Nina Sue Ramsey, Roanoke, WV and Judy Ramsey of Ireland, WV, many nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Garrett Ramsey, Lonnie Ramsey and Arron Ray Ramsey and brother-in-law Sonny Davis.
Mike retired from Pipefitters Local 152 of Morgantown with 35 years of service.
He had a great love for serving the Lord, testifying of His goodness and witnessing to people about being saved. He served in many capacities in the Little Kanawha Independent Church since its establishment in 1969 and currently served as deacon and trustee.
