Retta Brown Taylor, 96, Heaters, WV, passed away Friday, April 1, 2016 at Heaters, WV.

She was born on October 23, 1919 in Hettie, WV, a daughter of the late Frenchman Brown and Mae Virginia Rexroad. She was married to the late Hubert Dick Taylor and was preceded in death by four brothers and one grandson, Michael S. Prince.

Those left to cherish her memory are sons, Robert E. Prince Sr., (Judy) Heathsville, VA and James E. (Linda) Prince, Winfield, WV; daughter, Judy K. McCarthy, Heaters, WV; stepdaughter, Edna Mollohan, Tampa, FL; grandchildren, Cary R. (Woody) Eldred, Falls Church, VA and Melissa (Matthew) Booth, Bancroft, WV, Robert E. (JoEllen) Prince, Jr., Midlothian, VA, Christina Prince, Winfield, WV, wife of Michael S. Prince, deceased; step grandchildren, Kathy (Tony) Tongs, Tampa, FL, David (Jane) Noland, KS and Byrne Mollohan, Tampa, FL. Also surviving are eight great grandchildren and two step great grandchildren.

She attended the Heaters United Methodist Church and was a resident of Heaters, WV since her marriage in 1968. Retta was a homemaker and enjoyed quilting, gardening, baking and stamp collecting. She participated in the Rebecca Lodge in Burnsville, WV for many years. She was well known in Heaters for her pies and if someone did something nice for her, then they were going to receive one of her famous pies usually delivered by her husband.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. at the Stockert-Paletti Funeral Home in Flatwoods, WV and the service will follow immediately with the Reverend William, “B.B.” Marshall officiating. Burial will follow at the Little Kanawha Memorial Gardens, Heaters, WV. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations can be made to the Heaters United Methodist Church or the Little Kanawha Memorial Gardens, Heaters, WV.
