Freeman E.  Nicholson
Freemen Eugene Nicholson, 82 of Burnsville, WV died after a long illness Thursday morning, September 17, 2015, in Walkersville, WV at the home of long time loving companion Lavon Jordan Nicholson, Sr.
He was born June 18, 1933, a son of the late Arley D. and Christina Mae Nicholson of Burnsville, WV. He was also preceded in death by his older brother, Arley D. Nicholson Jr. of Burnsville, WV and is survived by his younger sister, Freda Mae and husband David Carpenter of Port Orange, FL; and very special niece, daughter of Freda, Davetta Jolley and husband Doug from Heaters, WV.
He is survived by grandson Thomas and wife Chasity Nicholson of Napier, WV and great grandchildren, Brier, Liam and baby boy due in December. Grandson Danny and wife Natalie Nicholson of Buckhannon, WV and great grandchildren Kaitlyn and Colin. Grandchildren Tamara and Taron Nicholson, of Burnsville, WV. Granddaughter Deanna West and husband Mike of Pennsboro, WV, and great grandson Dakota Wayne.
He is survived by Lavon Jordan Nicholson, Sr., and Son, Donnie Jordan and Finance, Lana of Wildcat, WV; grandchildren Leonard ,Terry, Brian and Siana; great grandchild Donald Douglas. Daughter Vera and husband Gary Perrine of Centerville, GA and granddaughter Jordan. Son Doug and wife Angel Jordan of Ireland and granddaughters Anna and Autumn; great granddaughter Lea Grace and grandson, Hunter. Son Alex and wife Kelley Jordan of Maxwell, IO. and granddaughter Mischa and grandson Wyatt. Daughter Rose and husband Todd Milnes of Greenfield, Ohio, grandchildren Jarrett and Matthew. Daughter Vicki and husband Brad Cayton of Buckhannon, WV and grandchildren Adam, Ben, Ryan, Beth and great grandchildren Ava, Bryce and Mya.
Freeman served his Country during the Korean Conflict as a member of the United States Army and he quickly became promoted to Sergeant 1st Class. He worked for many years as a West Virginia coal miner and was a retiree of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Freeman was an avid woodsman and hunter. He enjoyed make things with his hands, and he also was very neat and orderly, and whenever he had the opportunity he loved a good square dance.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 20, 2015 at the Stockert-Paletti Funeral Home 378 Flatwoods Corner Road, Flatwoods, WV, 26621, from 3– 5 p.m. Following visitation family and friends will share a service of remembrance in honor of Freemen. Interment with follow the service at the Nicholson Family Cemetery, Braxton County, WV with full Military Honors conducted by the American Legion Post #33 of Sutton, WV and the WV Army Honor Guard of Kingwood, WV.
