Maxine   Kelley Waldeck (Straley)
Maxine Kelley Waldeck, 84, of Gilmer Station, West Virginia passed away on Friday, January 31, 2014 at the Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. She was born on September 16, 1929, in Copen, West Virginia and was the daughter of the late Marion Straley and Dorothy Singleton Straley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands Bobby Kelley and Jim Waldeck; sisters Emogene Bennett, Wilma Jean Singleton, and Kathleen Straley.



Mrs. Waldeck is survived by one son, Michael Kelley and wife Carol and grandson Travis Kelley all of Gilmer Station, West Virginia. Also surviving are sisters Catty Harper and husband Tom of Florida and Shirley Kelley of Sutton, sister-in-law Joanne Simmons and husband Ralph of Florida, and brother-in-law Jerry Kelly and wife Jane of Michigan. In addition, Maxine is also survived by one special friend Jeannette Dean of Burnsville and several nieces and nephews.



Maxine was the owner of Gilmer Grocery and U.S. Post Mistress at Gilmer Station for many years. She also taught school for several years in Braxton County. She was a graduate of Burnsville High School with the Class of 1948 and attended Glenville State College. Maxine was a member of Little Kanawha Independent Church of Burnsville. Maxine was also a member of The Rebekah Lodge #104, LAPM # 9 of Clarksburg, WV, The Glenville Democratic Women, the Red Hat Society of Glenville, the Women’s Auxiliary of the VFW of Burnsville, the Braxton County CEOs, and was a Braxton County Belle in 2000.

Family will receive friends at the Stockert-Paletti Funeral Home, 225 Main Street, Flatwoods on Monday, February 3, 2014 from 5-9p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 from the Stockert-Paletti Funeral Chapel at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Ronzel Roberts officiating. Interment will follow funeral services in the Copen Cemetery. Words of Comfort and fond memories may be expressed to the family at stockert-paletti.com
