Obituary for Shirley Temple Anderson

Shirley “Dot” Temple (Smith) Anderson, 81, of Tunnel Fork Road, Gassaway went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at her Residence. Dot was born in Charleston, WV on April 23, 1937 to the late James E. Smith who preceded her in death in 1973 and Audra N. (Morrison) Smith who preceded her in death in 1997.
On September 26, 1955 she married her soulmate James “Andy” Charles Anderson whom she was married to for sixty three years and who survives. Also surviving is daughter Dana M. Yates of Gassaway, WV, grandchildren Devon N. Yates and Charles J. Yates both of Norfolk, VA. She is also survived by siblings Margaret Harper of Gassaway, WV, Bonnie Peal and husband Leon of Marmet, Tommie Smith of Gassaway, WV, and Linda Hall and husband Ray of Sutton. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
Dot was a Baptist by faith and was a Librarian in Puerto Rico. She spent many hours crocheting and working crossword puzzles. Her husband James was retired from the Navy so she was a retired Navy wife and loved to go camping whether it was in a tent or in a camper. She was a wonderful wife, mother and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Family will receive friends at the Stockert-Paletti Funeral Home, 378 Flatwoods Corner Flatwoods Road, Flatwoods, WV 26621 from 5-8 p.m. on Sunday, July 8, 2018. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, July 9, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. in the Stockert-Paletti Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Aaron Sligar officiating. Interment will follow in the Newville Cemetery.
