Obituary for Walter Toppings

Walter  Toppings
Walter “Beep” Toppings Jr. of Glenville went to be Lord on May 17, 2018 at the Miletree Nursing home in Spencer, WV. He was born on June 1, 1930 in Logan County, WV to the late Walter Toppings and Alberta Mae (Stallings) Toppings. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sister Evelyn Toppings Adams, brothers Roger, Marvin, Walton, Joseph, Samuel, Frederick, Osen, Merrel, Daniel and Adam Toppings
Walter is survived by children Drema May Toppings of Guyandotte, WV Lyle Albert Toppings of Millstone, WV, and Bobby Lee Toppings and Wife Leslie of Glenville, WV. Also surviving grandchildren Bobby “Bub” Toppings and wife Deborah of Chloe, WV, Miranda Hudson and husband Jeremy of Cheylan, WV Jamie Conrad Stationed in Seattle, WA for the United States Army, Kaleb and Elysa Conrad of Glenville, and great-grandchildren Gina and Zeke Toppings of Chloe, WV, and Ethan Hudson and Mikah Fisher of Cheylan, WV. Walter is also survived by sisters Clara Toppings Ferguson and husband Kenneth of N.C., Juanita “Sis” Toppings and husband Dean of N.C., and Ruth Toppings Slusher and husband Melvin of N.C., brothers Olen Toppings and Wife Carol of Teays Valley, WV, James Toppings and wife Christine of Hamlin, WV, Nolan Toppings and wife Gail of Hamlin, WV, also surviving sister-in-law Connie Topping of Point Pine, WV, Faye Toppings of Cloden, WV, and Violet Toppings of Champmanville, WV Also surviving are Nieces, Nephews and Cousins that loved him dearly and will forever miss him.
Walter worked most of life in sawmills or cutting right of way for Power Company. In his spare time he enjoyed squirrel and groundhog hunting, and fishing. All he ever wanted was his pop, chewing tobacco, and shotgun shells. His favorite thing to do was to visit with family and friends.
The Toppings family would like to say thank you to the Staff of Miletree Nursing Home in Spencer, WV. To many of the Nurses he was referred to as Papaw. The love and care shown to Walter of the last few years was above and beyond anything that his family could have hoped for.
Family will receive friends on Monday, May 21, 2018 at the Chestnut Grove Baptist Church from 11-1 p.m. Funeral services will follow visitation at the Church with Pastor Vane Bush officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. Memories and fond stories can be expressed to the family at stockertpalett.com
