Obituary for Ricky Lee Long

Today, October 14, 2017, God sent a beautiful white horse to take Ricky Lee Long, age 57, to his heavenly home. There to meet him with open arms was his mother, Joann “Josie” Linville Long; his infant sister, Peggy Long; grandparents, Dewey and Laura Jackson Long and Edgar and Marie Hayes Linville; Aunt Billie Sue Long Hamil and husband, Joe; Uncles Lessie and wife, Gracie Long; Dana and wife, Arzee Long; Billy Jackson; Carl and wife, Dora Linville.
Ricky was born December 14, 1959, in Sutton, WV, the son of Donny Lee Long and the late Joan “Josie Linville Long.
Ricky will be loved and forever missed by his dad, Donny Lee Long and brother and best friend, Ronny Dale Long of Windy Run Road, WV; Uncles and Aunts, Melvin and wife, Nancy Long Linville, Mannington, WV; Thelma Long Jackson, Little Birch, WV; Jim and wife, Virginia Long, Windy Run Road, WV; Golden Long, Windy Run Road, WV; many cousins, the family of the late Orval and Betty Jenkins; and his many friends from the horse shows over the past forty plus years where he was a very faithful volunteer.
Ricky loved to hunt and got many trophy deer. He loved to cook, can, ride horses, and work on the farm, where he made canes, swings, benches, and anything made from wood. He could fix anything from a dozer to a can opener. Ricky was so loving and kind and never met a stranger. He would do anything to help anyone. Just a handshake, pat on the back, or thank you was payment enough.
Ricky was a graduate of Braxton County High School with the class of 1978.
Friends and family will be received Tuesday, October 17, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. at the Stockert-Paletti Funeral Home, 378 Flatwoods Corner Road, Flatwoods, WV. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at 11 am in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Lynn Schiefer officiating. Interment will follow in the Tesla Cemetery, Little Birch.
