Obituary for Pamela Jo (Smith) Baker

Pamela Jo  (Smith) Baker
Pamela Jo (Smith) Baker passed away at 4:33 am August 12, 2017 at UHC hospital in Clarksburg, WV after a long illness. She was surround by her family as she left this world to join her mother in heaven.
Pam was born September 4, 1965. She was the eldest daughter of Charles A. and the late Mary Lou (Rinehart) Smith of Napier, WV, formerly of Newton, WV. Pamela attended Newton Grade School and graduated from Clay County High in 1983. She then went on to serve six years with the United States Army and was stationed in Fort Hood, TX. After returning home to WV she was employed by Braxton County Board of Education as a school bus driver for thirteen years, until 2003 when she was forced to give up the job she loved due to complications from MS. Pam fought with Multiple sclerosis for more that fifteen years, but never gave up hope that one day they would find a cure and she could return to walking again.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Mary Lou (Rinehart) Smith, grandparents Aubrey Noel and Ruby (Nester) Smith; Deco James and Audrey (Keith) Rinehart.
She leaves behind three children: “Punkie” Jennifer Ann (Baker) Perrine (and Matthew) of Napier, WV; John Cameron Baker of Gassaway, WV; and Christina Jo Baker of Napier, WV; her only grandchild, Port Hayz Perrine, of Napier, WV; father Charles A. Smith of Napier, WV; sisters: Connie Sue (Smith) Gwynn (and Brian) of Napier, WV; and Linda Darlene (Smith) Perkins (and Jeff) of Heaters, WV; nephews and nieces; Nathan Gwynn of Morgantown, WV, Sienna Gwynn (at home), Garrett Perkins (at home), an Dylan Gwynn (Erica) of Bridgeport, WV; aunts and uncle: Marlene and Junior Conley of Chloe, WV, Martha and (late) Larry Miller of Elkview, WV and James E. and Kay Smith of Johnson City, TN; and many other cousins; and her beloved pet poodle Cocoa.
Pam enjoyed playing softball and caring for her pets and farm animals in the earlier years and belonged to FFA and 4-H. She always enjoyed time with family and friends, attending her kids supporting events, anything outdoors, etc. Later she enjoyed bingo, sings and church services at the Braxton Health Care Center, where she resided up until the time of death. Pam was also a member of the Order of Easter Star, Linden, WV. She was loved and will be missed by many.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at the Stockert-Paletti Funeral Home, 378 Flatwoods Corner Road, Flatwoods, WV 26621, from 4-8 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Jason Allen officiating. Interment will follow at the Falls Mill Cemetery, Napier, WV.
