Obituary for Clinton Elliot Hickman

Clinton Elliot  Hickman
Clinton Elliot Hickman, age 78 of Heaters, WV passed away on February 25, 2017 at his home. He was born November 13, 1938 in Heaters, a son of the late James and Jessie Hickman.
On September 9, 1961 he married Marjorie Lucille Harper, who preceded him in death October 5, 2003. Also preceding him in death were parents, James Clinton Hickman and Jessie Rita (Fleming); brother, Jimmie Lee; step son’s Ricky and Rodney Norman.
Clinton is survived by his wife, Joyce Canfield Norman Hickman, whom he married on December 8, 2012; son, Perry C. Hickman and married to Melinda Billington of Cincinnati, OH; daughter, Sandra L. Wilson married to Reverend Steven of Romney, WV; six grandchildren, sister Carol H. Fritz, her husband Robert; brother Rodney Hickman and wife Ann.
Also surviving are step children, Connie Harper (Keith), Angie Harper (Tom) and Andy Norman; nine step grandchildren and ten step great grandchildren.
Clinton graduated from Sutton High School in 1957 and from WVU with a masters in Horticulture in 1964. He worked at and later managed the WVU Experimental Farm in Point Pleasant for eighteen years. He then moved to Morgantown to teach and do research in horticulture. In 1977 he moved to Kerrville, TX working as a unit manager in a large apple orchard. Clinton then returned to Braxton County and worked a few years for the WVU Extension Service in Clarksburg.
He was an avid Mountaineer fan, hunter and enjoyed traveling and tending to his green house.
He was a member of the Corley United Methodist Church. He was loved and will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at the Stockert-Paletti Funeral Home, 378 Flatwoods Corner, Flatwoods, WV 26621 from 6-8 p.m. The Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 1, 2017 in the Stockert-Paletti funeral home chapel at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Stephen Wilson and Reverend Thomas Harper officiating. Interment will follow in the High Knob Cemetery. Words of comfort and fond memories can be shared with the family at stockert-paletti.com.
