Obituary for Charles James Taylor Wilson

Charles James Taylor  Wilson
Wilson, Charles JT, 7/6/1938 - 12/28/2016, Charles James Taylor Wilson, MSGT Retired US Air Force, 78, of Ladson, SC passed away in hospice care.

Charles was predeceased by his parents, Omer B. and Ida I. Hamric Wilson. He is survived by his daughter, Heather A. Locke and her husband, Charles, of Florida; his brother, Darrell, and his wife, Janice, of Oregon; two nieces, grandnieces, grandnephews and one great grandnephew, all of Oregon.

Born in Widen, WV, he moved with his family to Gem at the age of 15, graduating from Burnsville High School in 1956. He worked for a short time in the coal mine with his father prior to joining the US Air Force. He rose to the rank of Master Sergeant with tours of duty in Scotland, Germany, England, Alaska and seven other states. He retired in1977 to the Summerville, SC area.

Upon retiring he worked in Shop 68, module maintenance facility at the Charleston Naval Shipyard and as an electronic missile systems inspector at the Polaris Missile Facility in Goose Creek, SC where he retired from Civil Service in 1994.

During retirement he remained close to his roots, making yearly visits to Widen and/or Burnsville. He enjoyed fellowship with his class of 1956 and was active with the Kanawha Alumni Assn. and Scholarship Fund. Charles (Chuck) held offices with the Dorchester Shrine Club, including Treasurer, Secretary, President, and most recently Parliamentarian.. He also served as president of the Newington Homeowners Assn. Chuck was dedicated to any task he undertook. If you wanted it done right, Chuck was the go-to person. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at the Stockert-Paletti Funeral Home, 378 Flatwoods Corner Road, Flatwoods, WV 26621 from 6-8 p.m. On Friday, January 20, 2017 family will receive friends from 12-1 p.m. at the Stockert-Paletti Funeral Home with the Funeral Service following at 1:00 a.m. in the Stockert-Paletti Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Delmas Singleton officiating. Following Funeral Services family and friends will go in funeral procession to the Little Kanawha Memorial Gardens Cemetery for Masonic Graveside Rites conducted by the Strange Creek Masonic Lodge 130 and the Gassaway Masonic Lodge 133.
