Obituary for Van Edward Moats

Van Edward  Moats
Van Edward Moats, 70, of Walkersville, WV departed this life on November 23, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 27, 1945 in Heaters, WV to the late Reverend Charles and Maude (Gibson) Moats. He is also preceded in death by sisters, Nelly McLain, Catherine Moats, Betty Jo Moats and Nancy Isgett.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jeannie (Kincaid) Moats whom he married on April 4, 1969 and who he was married to for forty-seven years; sons, Greg (Melinda) and Brock (Leslie) Moats and a daughter, Michelle (Nick) Graff; grandchildren, Cassie Moats, Eddie Posey, Garrett Moats and Cam Moats. Also surviving are step grandchildren, Devin Bohan, Mitchell Casey and Michael Casey (Lacie). He is survived by brother, Buck Moats and sisters, Zenna Turin and Mary Lee Hoelz.
Mr. Moats served his Country in the United States Army in the Vietnam War from 1964 to 1969. He graduated from Braxton County High School in 1964. He was an Apostolic by faith and a member of the Victory Apostolic Church. He enjoyed farming, wood working, fishing and camping. But most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and his dogs, Sassy and Bo. Mr. Moats was the owner of Moats & Son Logging Company and spent his life working in the timber industry.
Family will receive friends on Friday, November 25, 2016 at the Stockert-Paletti Funeral Home, 378 Flatwoods Corner Road in Flatwoods, WV 26621 from 5:00-8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Stockert-Paletti Funeral Home Chapel with the Pastor Jason Allen officiating. Interment will follow in the Kincaid Cemetery, Ireland, WV with full Military Honors conducted by the American Legion Post 33.
