Obituary for Richard Lee McClain

Richard Lee  McClain
Richard “Rat” McClain, 62, of Walkersville, WV, passed away of a heart attack at the home of his sister, Ruth Criss on May 13, 2015. Richard was born on January 6, 1953. He was the youngest child of the late Louis “Lukie” McClain and Rosalie (Queen) McClain. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Robert McClain and Lewis “Peewee” McClain, and one sister, Vinita Johnson Ball.
Those left to cherish his memory are sisters, Ruth B. Criss of Rock Cave, WV, Maxine Johnson of Parkersburg, WV, and Edna Halstead of Citrus Springs, FL; brothers, Charles Raymond McClain of New Castle, DE, and Russell Hughie McClain of Burnsville, WV ; children, Melissa Strader of Culloden, WV, Robert McClain of Walkersville, WV, and Caitlin Claypoole of Walkersville, WV. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Richard attended the Georgetown Community Church. Richard was a construction worker, loved to hunt and fish, and shoot guns, especially with his family and friends. He also loved to work on the farm and tend to his property. Richard was big hearted and tried to help anybody that he could.
Family will receive friends at the Stockert-Paletti Funeral Home, 378 Flatwoods Corner Road, Flatwoods, WV 26621 on Monday, May 18, 2015 from 11:00 am -1:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow visitation at 1:00 p.m. from the Stockert-Paletti Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jay Burkhart officiating. Interment will follow in the K & P Cemetery in Burnsville, WV, where he will be laid to rest next to his mother whom he loved and missed very much. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Richard McClain Children’s Educational Fund at P.O. Box 292, Flatwoods, WV 26621 or in person at the Funeral Home. Words of Comfort and memories may be expressed to the family at stockert-paletti.com.
