William Arthur Thorne, 73, of 4297 Elk River Road, Gassaway, WV passed away at his residence following an extended illness. He was born on October 2, 1941, in Gassaway, to late Arthur Thorne and Clara (Williams) Thorne. He was married to Linda K. (Miller) Thorne of Gassaway.
William is survived by one son, William Arthur Thorne and wife Karen of Gassaway. He is also survived by one grandson, Mark Nottingham of Bridgeport, WV.
William was a member of the Gassaway Baptist Church for many years. William enjoyed restoring and driving antique cars and riding motorcycles. William and his wife took a number of trips on the motorcycle. William was also an outdoorsman; he loved to fish and shoot skeet. William was a machinist by trade and operated his own shop for many years.
